The Best Spritzes to Serve at Your Wedding

Summer in a glass? We think a spritz comes pretty close! 🍊

Spritzes have well and truly earned their place on the wedding drinks menu, and we're not surprised. They're refreshing, colourful, easy to customise and look pretty lovely being handed around at a sunny drinks reception.

From the classic Aperol Spritz to Limoncello and Hugo Spritzes, we've seen so many variations being served at weddings recently!

But there's another reason we love them from a hospitality point of view: with a little planning, they're a brilliant option for serving lots of guests at once.

So, if you're planning your wedding drinks menu, here are some of our favourite spritzes, plus a few tips we've picked up from serving them at weddings across the South West.

Why Spritzes Work So Well at Weddings

Picture it: your ceremony has finished, the sun is shining and your guests are ready for a drink.

The last thing you want is a queue forming at the bar while every cocktail is individually measured, mixed and garnished.

This is where spritzes really come into their own.

Much of the preparation can be done before your guests arrive. Glassware can be laid out, bottles chilled, garnishes prepared and ingredients organised or pre-measured ready for service.

We've even prepared dedicated Spritz Stations at weddings, with beautiful glasses of Aperol Spritz ready for guests to enjoy throughout the afternoon. Not only does it look fantastic, it helps keep drinks flowing and takes some of the pressure away from the main bar.

For larger weddings, those little bits of preparation can make a huge difference to the guest experience.

Serve tip:Keep anything sparkling out of your batches until you're ready to serve. Add your Prosecco, Champagne or soda as close to serving as possible so your spritz stays lovely and fizzy.

1. The Classic Aperol Spritz 🍊

We couldn't start anywhere else.

Bright, refreshing and instantly recognisable, the Aperol Spritz is made for a summer wedding drinks reception.

Perfect for: Post-ceremony drinks, outdoor receptions and sunny marquee weddings.

You'll need:

  • 3 parts Prosecco

  • 2 parts Aperol

  • 1 part soda water

  • Plenty of ice

  • Fresh orange to garnish

Prep ahead: Slice your oranges, chill your bottles and get your glassware and ice ready before guests arrive. Your Aperol can also be measured ahead, leaving your team to add the Prosecco, soda and garnish when it's time to serve.

2. Limoncello Spritz πŸ‹

If you love the idea of an Aperol Spritz but fancy something a little different, Limoncello is such a lovely alternative.

Fresh, citrusy and very summery, it also looks gorgeous served with fresh lemon.

Perfect for: Italian-inspired weddings, summer receptions and anyone dreaming of a little Amalfi Coast energy without leaving Cornwall.

You'll need:

  • 2 parts Limoncello

  • 3 parts Prosecco

  • 1 part soda water

  • Ice

  • Fresh lemon to garnish

Prep ahead: Chill your Limoncello and Prosecco, prepare your lemon slices and have everything arranged ready for service.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

3. Hugo Spritz 🌿

The Hugo Spritz has become a real favourite, particularly if you prefer something lighter and more floral.

Traditionally made with elderflower, Prosecco, soda, mint and lime, it's incredibly refreshing and looks beautiful in a large wine glass packed with fresh garnishes.

Perfect for: Garden weddings, countryside venues and relaxed summer celebrations.

Make it stand out

You'll need:

  • Prosecco

  • Elderflower liqueur

  • Soda water

  • Fresh mint

  • Fresh lime

  • Ice

Prep ahead: Wash and prepare your mint and lime, chill everything and arrange your glasses ready to go. Add the sparkling ingredients just before serving.

4. Rosé Spritz 🩷

If you want something light, refreshing and very pretty on the drinks table, a RosΓ© Spritz is a gorgeous option.

Fresh berries and sparkling rosΓ© give it that perfect summer-wedding feel, and you can play around with the garnishes to complement the rest of your day.

Perfect for: Colourful summer weddings, garden parties and anyone looking for a pretty alternative to the classic Aperol.

You'll need:

  • 3 parts sparkling rosΓ©

  • 1 part soda water

  • A splash of elderflower liqueur

  • Plenty of ice

  • Fresh strawberries or raspberries to garnish

Prep ahead: Prepare your berries, chill your sparkling rosΓ© and elderflower liqueur, and have your glasses filled with ice ready for service. Add the sparkling ingredients just before serving to keep everything fresh

The Secret? Prep Before You Pour

If you're serving spritzes to 80, 100 or 150 guests, you don't want to start every single drink from scratch as they arrive.

Good wedding bar service starts long before the first drink is poured.

  • Prepare your garnishes.

  • Chill your bottles.

  • Organise your glassware.

  • Get your ice ready.

  • Pre-measure ingredients where appropriate.

  • Set up your bar or Spritz Station so everything your team needs is within reach.

Then, when your guests arrive, it's simply a case of adding the final ingredients, fizz and garnish before getting those drinks into people's hands.

It's a small bit of preparation that can make the whole drinks reception feel much more seamless.

And trust us, your guests would much rather be holding a spritz than standing in a queue for one!
