DIY Bar Checklist

Here is a guide to help you ensure you have everything you need to run your own bar. Whether it’s a wedding, a birthday or a private event, all bars need these basic elements in order to run smoothly!

  • Physical bar - you need to have an area for your crew to work and a place to hold your stock

  • Stock - your bar needs the alcohol, mixers and soft drinks you will be serving

  • Access to a drinking water tap - it is vital to have access to water on site

  • Glassware - we recommend 4-5 glasses per guest or alternatively, provide enough bio-plastics to meet the above ratio (https://abbottseventhire.co.uk/weddings/ & https://www.vegware.com/uk-en/catalogue/cold_cups/)

  • Ice - we recommend buying bags of ice from the local supermarket the morning of and storing in a fridge/freezer/coolbox

  • Ice bucket & Ice scoop (for above)

  • Garnish - it’s always nice to add a slice of lemon, lime etc to your drink!

  • Chopping board & fruit knife (for above)

  • Non-slip trays so that we can collect up all of your glasses

  • Measures - you will need single and double spirit measurers, so your guests can’t get too carried away

  • Bottle openers & corkscrews - if you have bottled beers or corked wine, it is vital to have these at hand

Of course, you need crew to run your bar for you. Serve can help with all your staffing needs, however big or small your party is. Our teams are professional and well trained and will ensure your event runs smoothly!
