How to prepare for your event

Wedding Food Service

It’s a week before the big day, the sun is beaming, a glass of bubbles in hand - it’s nearly your Wedding Day! One of the happiest days of your life is just days away BUT, did you order enough glasses? Has everyone got a welcome drink? Have all guests with dietary requirements been catered for - have they 100% been looked after? This is not what you want to be feeling on the morning of your wedding! Read on to find out how to ensure the food and drink service on your wedding day is all under control.

Welcome Drinks

First things first, everyone knows a wedding is a good excuse to have a “knees-up” and let your hair down. Welcome drinks and canapés are a great way to get all your loved ones mingling and catching up; here are a few ideas of some simple cocktails you could offer after you’ve officially tied the knot!

Our top tips on choosing your welcome drinks are to: keep it light, keep it seasonal and keep it simple! And don’t forget to speak to your caterer about canapés. These delicious little nibbles help your guests to remain sober (ish!)  and keep appetites at bay until your wedding meal. If you are on a budget, canapés are also a great alternative to starters.

Table Set-Up

Your table design really details the theme of your day with beautiful decor, flowers and candles. Abbotts Event Hire are local specialists in tableware with a vast range of crockery, cutlery and glassware, suitable for most themes and table designs. However, if you are looking for something a little more unique, check out the vintage hire from Stargazey Decor Hire or for an industrial look, check out Glas Events.

Don’t forget that you will require cutlery for all courses, enough plates for all guests and glasses for water, wine and toast drinks. For support with finalising your tableware order, speak to your caterer

Wedding Breakfast

Whether you choose a traditional roast, sociable sharing platters or something more casual like a barbeque or hog roast, there are so many fantastic local catering companies that will help to pull off a memorable feast for your day. Avo Catering, Woodfired Weddings, Beautiful and the Feast, and Fee’s Food are just a few of our favourite teams to work with, who are able provide bespoke menus based on your favourite food memories. Make sure you collect your guests dietary requirements along with their RSVP’s, to give your caterer plenty of notice.
